Online Christian Art Seminar, #1

Online Christian Art Seminar, #1

Thursday, August 27, 2020, 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM

Coordinator: Dan Hull |

"Christian Art & Symbolism"

Christian artists have been working to present and teach the faith for almost two thousand years. But were they right to do so? Doesn't the second commandment forbid the creation of images? In this first seminar we'll be discussing the reasons for producing Christian art as well as some of the most common symbols used to express core beliefs.

This first seminar will cover:

  • Christian Art - What does it mean?  Is it moral?
  • Symbolism in Christian Art
  • Learning to "Read" Christian Art

This class is led by Joshua Simmons, BA History & Christian Thought, Masters in Church History, Westminster Theological Seminary.  Currently serving as Associate Head, School of Rhetoric at Regents Classical School in Austin.  Joshua frequently leads students on summer European tours that include the Louvre, Westminster Abbey and National Gallery in London.

After registering, you will receive an invitation to a Zoom meeting from the Event Coordinator.
