Caring Ministry

We offer numerous Caring Ministries to serve our church family and community.  The volunteers involved are the "hands and feet" of Jesus, helping those in need.  If you would like more information or would like to serve in one of our ministries, please fill out and submit the form below.  Descriptions of each ministry appear below the form.

Caregiver Support Ministry

This ministry meets the needs of caregivers by providing practical, emotional, educational and spiritual support.  We provide in-home companionship to a loved one and respite (relief) for the caregiver, as well as offer workshops, guest speakers and social events.  Contact: Barry Harding,

This group periodically hosts two training series which are free and open to the public. Savvy Caregivers is a class series for those giving care to someone with dementia, and Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a class series which equips caregivers with what they need to know to optimize their own health as they give care to others.  Questions about these , contact Elaine Carpenter.

Compassionate Calls Ministry

This ministry initiates telephone contact with those who need comfort, encouragement and prayer and have been placed on the Weekly Prayer List. Each call reaffirms they are loved, thought about and prayed for by their church family.   Contact: Tom Neidhart, or Ann Neidhart, .   

Dementia Caregivers' Support Group

This in-person support group focuses on the caregivers of those with dementia and takes place the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at the Sun City Campus, 1:15 - 3:00 pm.  For more information, contact Cheryl White.

DivorceCare

A 13-week support group that helps you heal from the pain of separation or divorce.  The experience involves three main components designed to help in that healing:

Faith at Work

"Christians Helping Others in the Name of Christ"

Do you need help with routine home maintenance? Are you not sure about climbing that ladder? Help is only a phone call away! 

We help with:

- Changing light bulbs/smoke detector batteries
- Adding salt pellets to a water softener
- Changing AC filters
- Temporary, light emergency housekeeping in the event of illness or injury.

Gals Sharing Life

Each group consists of 8 members which come together to fellowship, share, support, love and pray with and for one another.  For more information, and to join a group, contact Charlene Craigen-Nobles, GSL Coordinator, .  

GriefShare

GriefShare is a network of 12,000+ churches worldwide equipped to offer grief support groups. The program is nondenominational and features biblical concepts for healing from grief. Learn more about GriefShare at www.griefshare.org.

Hidden Disabilities Ministry

Hidden Disabilities is a support group ministry serving family members who have loved ones affected by mental illness such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, depression and anxiety disorders.  Provides education and a unique opportunity to fellowship and learn with others who are facing similar challenges; the group leaders also meet one-on-one with anyone who requests to do so.  They are trained and certified by NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).  Group meets the 1st Wednesday of each month from 1 - 2:00 pm, Sun City Campus library.  Questions?  Contact Paul and Mary Lou Taylor.  

Ministry of Hope

An outreach to those who have cancer or other chronic health issues who need God's hope no matter what their situation, circumstance, or latest scan results.  We meet the 1st Thursday of each month, 3:00 - 4:30 pm at the Sun City Campus.  If you have questions, contact Sandy Althaus

Personal Financial Guidance Team

Answers questions and provides assistance to church members who have recently lost a spouse or are otherwise in need of help in maintaining financial security.  Contact Billy Nobles,

Prayer Warriors

Join us as we gather to pray as a church body.  We have scripture readings, praise and worship songs/hymns, and prayer on a wide range of topics.  There are testimonies of praise and thanksgiving, and a relaxed atmosphere full of grace, joy, peace, and confidentiality.  There are two groups from which to choose - they each meet weekly for an hour:  Mondays at 9:30 am at the Sun City Campus; Thursdays at 10:00 am at the Sun City Campus.  Contact the church office if you have any questions, 512-869-1310.

Soup Ministry

Our ministry team members prepare and deliver homemade meals, soup and bread, to those who are ill or are recovering from surgery and unable to prepare meals.  TWP members are also welcome to pick up soup/meals and bread from the designated freezers located at both campuses.  Inquire at the Welcome Center desk if you have questions or would like to become involved with this ministry.  Coordinator: Peggy Scarborough, .  

Special Friends Alzheimer's Program

Special Friends Alzheimer's Program meets from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm on Thursdays.  This weekly program is designed to provide a friend and a day of activities, including lunch, to those afflicted with various forms of dementia and provide a few hours of relief to caregivers.   Read their brochure here.  If you are interested in participating as a volunteer or if you have a loved one with dementia, please contact Cheryl White.

Stephen Ministry

This is a group of lay people who have gone through extensive training to provide confidential one-to-one Christ-centered care to those who are experiencing grief, loss or any difficulty in their lives.

Veterans Fellowship

A ministry serving the needs of men and women military veterans, with three main focuses: Fellowship, Education, and Outreach.  Help us build a support network for one another.  We meet the 3rd Monday of each month, 9:00 am, at the Rocky Hollow Campus.  Arrive at 8:30 am for coffee, and we encourage you to invite another veteran.  Register on the website calendar.  Contact John Brock to learn more, .
